A house built around a single idea.

Khamila Design House was founded in Mexico in 1989 with a single conviction: that architecture, interiors, and furniture should never be designed in isolation. A home that is conceived as a complete system — where every surface, material, and object belongs to the same design intention — feels fundamentally different from one assembled piece by piece.

The studio designs in San Antonio. Every piece is made by hand in our own workshop in Mexico. Joinery, upholstery and leather, stone and marble share one roof. We design our own collections. We sell no other brands. Each work is produced in limited numbers. Finished pieces are available to acquire as they are.

Architecture at the scale of the hand.

Furniture is architecture at the scale of the hand. A joint, a seam, a cut of stone. Each piece is designed to hold its own in a room the way a painting or sculpture does.

We produce in small numbers so each work keeps its value as a considered object. Finished by the house, acquired as it is. Not a configuration, but a work with an identity of its own.

STUDIO PHILOSOPHY

Most homes are designed in sequence. Architecture comes first. Interiors follow. Furniture arrives at the end. At each stage, decisions are made in isolation — and something is always lost.

At Khamila Design House, we work differently. Architecture, interior design, and furniture are developed together from the very beginning. Proportion, material, light, and spatial flow are considered as a unified whole — not handed off from one discipline to the next.

The result is homes that feel resolved. Calm. Intentional. Spaces where nothing is arbitrary and everything belongs.

Khamila began with a way of seeing a home: proportion, light and material decided together. Today that discipline lives in our furniture. Each piece is drawn for the room it will inhabit, then made by hand in our own workshop. We call it furnished architecture.

Materials chosen to last.

Solid walnut. Natural stone and marble. Leather cut and upholstered by hand. Our craftspeople work these materials in our own Mexico workshop. The studio decides the materials and finishes as part of each work. The finished piece is acquired as it is.

Where possible, we favor materials with a story: surfaces that bear the mark of the craftsperson who worked them, joinery that rewards close attention, upholstery that improves with years of use. This is not a preference for the decorative. It is a belief that the best homes are built from things made with care.

Khamila is a small, focused studio with formal training in architecture and interior design and decades of residential practice in Mexico and the United States.

We work with a limited number of clients at any one time. This is deliberate. Every project we take on receives the full attention of the studio — from the first conversation about how you live, to the final placement of furniture in a completed space.
