STUDIO ORIGIN
Thirty-five years of integrated design.
Khamila Design House was founded in Mexico in 1989 with a single conviction: that architecture, interiors, and furniture should never be designed in isolation. A home that is conceived as a complete system — where every surface, material, and object belongs to the same design intention — feels fundamentally different from one assembled piece by piece.
In 2016, the studio opened its San Antonio studio, extending that approach to luxury residential clients across Texas. Today, Khamila Design House works on bespoke projects throughout San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country, bringing the same integrated methodology that has defined the studio for more than three decades.
Design as a single act.
STUDIO PHILOSOPHY
Most homes are designed in sequence. Architecture comes first. Interiors follow. Furniture arrives at the end. At each stage, decisions are made in isolation — and something is always lost.
At Khamila Design House, we work differently. Architecture, interior design, and custom furniture are developed together from the very beginning. Proportion, material, light, and spatial flow are considered as a unified whole — not handed off from one discipline to the next.
The result is homes that feel resolved. Calm. Intentional. Spaces where nothing is arbitrary and everything belongs.
The Difference

Materials chosen to last.
Every material we specify is selected against four criteria: quality, uniqueness, hand detailing, and durability. We work with natural materials — stone, solid walnut, hand-finished leathers, plaster — that acquire character over time rather than deteriorating.
Where possible, we favor materials with a story: surfaces that bear the mark of the craftsperson who worked them, joinery that rewards close attention, upholstery that improves with years of use. This is not a preference for the decorative. It is a belief that the best homes are built from things made with care.

THE TEAM
The studio.
Khamila Design House is a small, focused team of architects and designers with formal training in both architecture and interior design, complemented by decades of practice across residential projects in Mexico and the United States.
We work with a limited number of clients at any one time. This is deliberate. Every project we take on receives the full attention of the studio — from the first conversation about how you live, to the final placement of furniture in a completed space.
